Daglig vandretid op til 5½ timer og daglig distance op til 20 km. Ruten er lidt bakket og går ad gode vandrestier, skovveje og mindre befærdede sideveje. Der kræves gode vandresko/støvler og en fornuftig kondition for at kunne gennemføre turen. Denne tur er velegnet til familier med børn.

Mountains, lakes and picturesque places belong to one of the most beautiful treasures of the world. This uniqueness has been recognized by UNESCO and the region Hallstatt has been declared UNESCO Heritage of nature and culture.

 

Tour course

1st Day: Individual journey to lake Wolfgangsee

2nd Day: Round trip St. Wolfgang & St. Gilgen
Take the boat to St. Wolfgang. On your walk along a walking trail to Falkenstein rock wall you enjoy beautiful views of the lake. An idyllic path along the lake takes you into Mozart village St. Gilgen. Return by boat. Walking time: approx. 3.5 hrs.

3rd Day: Wolfgangsee – Bad Ischl

From St. Wolfgang on Saddle walk to lake Schwarzensee. Here the lake cabin of Lore is worth a stop for the delicious home made snacks. Via Wirer gorge into the valley and around Bürglstein to the lake promenade of Strobl. By coach into the ancient Imperial summer residence Bad Ischl. Walking time: approx. 4.5 hrs.

4th Day: Rest day in Bad Ischl
Use the free time to explore the many points of interest in Bad Ischl. “Kaiservilla” Emperor Franz Josef’s summer residence, Café Zauner with famous delicacies, the thermal spa, there is a wide choice of things to do.

5th Day: Bad Ischl – Bad Goisern
Salt always has been an important source of income in Salzkammergut. The oldest brine pipeline of the world leads from Hallstatt’s salt mine to the salt works in Bad Ischl. Walk along the promenade into Kaltenbachau, a site of Imperial pleasures as horse races, picnics and rendezvous. On brine pipeline trail to Bad Goisern, the gateway to UNESCO heritage Hallstatt. Walking time: approx. 3.5 hrs.

6th Day: Round trip Hallstatt
Continue on brine pipeline trail to the salt mountain in Hallstatt (salt mine dates back to Celtic times). Here you enjoy a scenic view of the lake and Dachstein massif. Plan a visit of the salt mine, enjoy the views from the top of Rudolf’s tower and visit the excavation sites. A boat carries you across the lake back to Bad Goisern. Walking time: approx. 4.5 hrs.

7th Day: Bad Goisern – Wolfgangsee
By train to Bad Ischl. Take Empress Elisabeth-Walk to tiny lake Nussensee then along river Ischl back to lake Wolfgangsee. Through nature reserve Blinklingmoos along the lake back to your stage stop. Walking time: approx. 5.5 hrs.

8th Day: Individual journey home or extra days
